MOHIGAN BOYS BASKETBALL JOURNAL- BY COACH HOFFMAN
The Bad News and the Good News- week 2
Unfortunately, the bad news is our football team lost in the state
semi finals. But, its time for the football players to play basketball.
Thats the good news. As was stated here, earlier, not having the
football players the first two weeks of practice is a disadvantage.
But, we have plenty of time to prepare for the season. We are very
proud of what the football program has accomplished over the past
few years and hope to echo that success with the basketball program.
This past week was an important week of practice as we added many
new twists to our offense. The new ideas have peaked the returning
players' attention and will make it difficult for our opposing teams
to scout us.
We are fortunate to have Casey Storm back this season as a volunteer
coach. Joining us also, is Jason Jones, from the eastern Pnahandle.
These guys are invaluable as they are constantly doing odd jobs
for the regular coaches. More importantly, the players relate better
to the younger coaches than they do to us old coaches. Its pretty
embarrasing to our players when the older coaches beat them in shooting
games. Bobby Prim is still trying to beat Coach VanVoorhis at the
foul line. Coach V now has a 3 year winning streak.
We will scrimmage at Keyser this Friday. Keyser is a AAA team located
in the eastern part of the state. They have a sparkling new gym that
will be on of the nicest gyms we play in this season. The Keyser
Varsity team will have some huge post players. This will be a good
test for our smaller Mohigans. The JV team will scrimmage at the
middle school, located down the road from the highschool. Game time
is 6:00 pm. Our next scrimmage will be next Friday at home with a
strong and talented John Marshall team. GO MOHIGANS!- respectfully
