SOUTH
COMES FROM BEHIND AND HANGS ON FOR WIN AT CENTRAL PRESTON The South
Stallions traveled to Kingwood and had to Òfight and clawÓ for a victory on
Thursday evening. But Coach Hines said any win in Kingwood is good. ÒWe
missed a lot of uncontested lay ups and didnÕt play our best, but everyone
played and we found out a lot about our team.Ó Alex Anderson's two 3 pointer
in the first half helped South to a 19 - 13 halftime lead. South was
able to withstand a furious rally by Central Preston which took a four point
lead with 3:30 minutes left in the game. The Stallions came from behind to win 39-38. Jeff
Leftridge had two key baskets in the second half in addition to some key
steals on defense. Sam Heinzman led South with 14 points including 2
clutch free throws late in the game to help secure the victory. The Stallions
will travel to Ben Franklin in Uniontown next Tuesday at 3:30 (for 7th
grade) and 5:00 for the 8th grade. |

SUNCREST
8TH RALLIES FOR HUGE VICTORY

Logan
Hatch, number 33 shown above traps Dakota Mouser from West Fairmont as Scott Core
denies the reversal and Todd Turner takes the middle away in the second half
of their victory over West Fairmont on Thursday evening. Photo sunmitted by Byron Witt It was
sweet revenge for the Suncrest 8th grade team as they avenged a
couple of losses from last year against West Fairmont Middle on Thursday
night at Suncrest, by a score of 43-25. Trailing 21-15, the up-tempo and
pressure of the Seals helped them go on a 24-0 run in a 9 minute span of the
second half to seal the victory. Leading the way for the Seals was Andy Vac
with 13 points and Logan Hatch added 12 points. Adding to the cause were:
Scott Core and Matt Johnson with 4 points each and Todd Turner, Andre Collins
and Dakota Carr with 2 points each. Austin Norman had 11 points to lead the Patriots.
Next Tuesday the Seals will travel to Masontown to take on West Preston.
Gametime 7:15. |

7th
Grade Seals Ease to Victory Over Patriots It is a
tall, talented team at Suncrest this year, and on Thursday evening it was that
depth that led the Seals to victory over the West Fairmont Patriots by a
score of 40-32. However,
it was the sharp shooting of Denver Goldsmith that propelled the Seals as
West Fairmont packed in the zone to counter the size of the Seals. Goldsmith
led the team with 19 points and several nice assists. In the
first half, the Seals had significant foul trouble and had to rely on their
bench to maintain a lead which they held throughout the game. Michael Keller
added 11 points while Thomas Selby contributed 6 points, many assists and was
tough on the boards. Alex Cooke and Alex Dale contributed much on the boards.
The three guard combo of Antonio Morgano, Felipe Costellanos and Jake Jaquez
split the Patriot 1-3-1 for several assists. Tavon
Horton led West with 14 points and Joyce Riley banged the boards to add 12
points. The Seal will be in action on Tuesday West Preston, at 5:45. |
