 What is West TV?

                   West TV is an independent video production company that produces programs for broadcast on cable television in Monongalia County.

What video programs will be broadcast on cable?

            There are a wide variety of programs and community events that can be videotaped for broadcast.  They include local beauty pageants, awards presentations, parades, high school graduations, band competitions, football games, basketball, soccer, swimming competitions, bowling tournaments, and a wide variety of other community events.

What about school events and athletic games?

            School programs, such as graduations and awards programs, can be videotaped for broadcasting.. Athletic events, such as football games, basketball, soccer and swimming competitions, can be videotaped for broadcast on cable TV.

Will the TV broadcasts be live?

       All broadcasts will be videotaped for broadcast, delayed by at least 48 hours from the actual day of the event.

Who pays for the broadcasts and how are events selected for videotaping?

            Sponsors are sought for each event to be broadcast. Sponsors can be individuals, parents, businesses, corporations or organizations. Each event requires a sufficient number of sponsors in order to make the broadcast possible. Sponsors will be given recognition or commercial time on each broadcast based on the amount of financial support given.

Who selects the high school football or basketball games to be broadcast?

              There is no rotation or equal number of broadcasts for each school, organization or events. Each broadcast is determined by the financial support it receives. As an example, if no sponsors are found for high school football games, but the soccer team booster club decides to sponsor the telecast of three games then those will be videotaped for airing on cable television.

Who pays for the broadcast channel time and how are programs broadcast on cable TV?

            West TV purchases the broadcast time from Adelphia Cable. West TV also provides the crew and equipment needed to videotape and broadcast the programs.

How many events will be broadcast on a weekly basis?

            While the number of games or events to be broadcast will depend on the financial support and sponsors of such programs, the beginning phase of the West TV project calls for a minimum of one high school basketball game or other sponsored event per week.

DVD and VHS copies of videos will be available.
